ISL’s Edmonton Community Development Team delivers on various projects throughout the Edmonton area including, new residential neighbourhoods, multi-family sites, infill redevelopments, commercial & industrial developments, infrastructure renewals, and community parks. As a member of the team you will get to the opportunity to touch on many different projects at the same time through various different projects.

We routinely collaborate with other disciplines within ISL on various projects including Community Planning, Landscape Architecture, Transportation, Water and Buildings. As part of developments the team coordinates frequently with external companies to deliver the best product including, private developers, architects, provincial agencies, municipalities and contractors to ensure efficient project execution.

A Little About You

Your resume should show us:

  • Completion of, or upcoming graduation from, a B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Civil Engineering program and eligible for registration as an EIT with APEGA or P.Eng. designation
  • Experience where you have been involved in construction, consulting, and/or regulatory approvals involving the land development industry.
  • Working knowledge of Civil 3D/AutoCAD/Excel
  • Working knowledge of the site grading and utility servicing
  • Experience in large and small-scale projects

Bonus points for:

  • Topographic and survey layout experience
  • Evidence that you use technology and innovation tools in your work

A Little More About the Role

You are experienced in navigating, fostering strong working relationships with the numerous partners involved in land development and look forward to joining a multidisciplinary organization. You are anticipatory by nature and often see risk before it happens. At this stage of your career you are also looking forward to growing with a team and would be excited by the opportunity to mentor junior staff on all things risk mitigation, business development and offer your technical expertise.

Reporting to the Community Development Manager, your primary responsibilities would include the following:

  • Collaborating on projects both locally and across ISL disciplines and offices
  • Helping to prepare various reports including drainage servicing report, design briefs and due diligence reports.
  • Being heavily involved in the technical design of underground utilities, grading and servicing.
  • Working closely with the Project Manager and other team members to prepare a drawing/submission package for the various municipalities
  • Coordinating with other consultants and clients.
  • Preparing cost estimates and associated summaries
  • Preparing tender and contract documents
  • Completing topographic survey and construction layout.
  • Reviewing and confirming progress claims quantities
  • Visiting construction site to monitor progress and other duties as per the contract documents
