Research Scientist who conceptualizes, designs, implements and directs research projects in the Division of Immunology and Rheumatology within the Department of Internal Medicine; develops, writes and submits grant proposals of originalresearch as a principal investigator to extramural funding agencies to obtain significant salary and research support from outside funding agencies; develops new lab methods and protocols as needed; tests and evaluates current procedures; plans, designs and conducts research experiments; designs and executes investigative research in the field of immunology; collects, analyzes, interprets and summarizes data; administers grants; directs and manages grant budgets; manages lab including identification and acquisition of equipment; hires, trains and evaluates junior investigators, writes manuscripts, articles, abstracts and research papers for publication; presents work at scientific meetings.

Minimum Education Required
Doctorate (Professional) or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in biological sciences

Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in a biological sciences or related area required with five years of postdoctoral research experience; substantial experience in the field of cellular / molecular biology, immunology and autoimmune disease; research with human subjects and animal models required. Prior research track record demonstrating independence, leadership, and scientific accomplishments required, along with experience with IRB and IACUC and other regulatory agencies. Demonstrates mastery in the principles, design and execution of diverse scientific techniques including molecular biology, cellular immunology, histology and immunofluorescence, microscopic imaging; protein biochemistry, flow cytometry and animal models of human disease.
